Description:

Antonio Escorcia brings a unique and rare pair of earrings to our collection. The earrings are crafted from a combination of tear drop briolette cut Tourmalated Quartz and Round Brilliant cut shaped Red Garnets. Clever in his designs, Antonio uses a wire scroll top that is hand-forged and designed by him. From the scroll wire worked top, hangs the bezel set Garnets and then the faceted Tourmalated Quartz. The earrings are finished with a post and clutch. Tourmalated Quartz is clear rock crystal (crystal quartz) which has grown together with black tourmaline, and shows strands of the tourmaline running through the quartz, hence "tourmalated." The earliest use of tourmalated quartz was for tools made by hominds in Ethiopia over 2 million years ago. The deep, glossy red color of Garnet resembles the juicy seeds of a pomegranate, which is perhaps why its name is derived from the Latin word granatum, meaning pomegranate seed. In Greek mythology, a pomegranate was often given as a gift of passion and associated with eternal love. In ancient history, travelers wore Garnet gemstones because they were believed to light up the night and provide protection from nightmares and accidents
